FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE SCAN Medical Launches an Innovative New Line of Scandinavian-made Manual Transfer Devices. Medford, MA, January 5, 1998 SCAN Medical introduces a new line of manual transfer devices. The innovative design and construction of these products enable both patients and caregivers to perform manual transfers, turns and lifts while reducing the risk of back and muscle strain and patient skin shear. The new line consists of 10 different products that can be used to help patients transfer from bed to wheelchair, turn or move in bed, and transfer between flat surfaces such as hospital gurneys and x-ray tables. The products use either a Unique Low Friction (ULF) fabric or a high friction material that allow users to comfortably slide, turn or change positions. Developed in Sweden, the transfer devices have been used throughout Europe by occupational therapists, physical therapists, nurses in hospitals, nursing homes, rehabilitation centers and private homes for more than 10 years. "The use of these manual sliding transfer devices has helped decrease caregiver strain and back stress and improve patient comfort," says Urban Erson, a physical therapist and Director of the school of mobility training who has trained more than 20,000 professionals at the University Hospital in Uppsala, Sweden. The new line of manual transfer products includes the following: Easy Glide, Minislide, Fleximove, Flexibelt, Wideslide, Turn Table, Easyslide, Turnslide, Maximove and Turnsheet. SCAN Medical provides complete training. The entire line of products has a 2-year warranty. For more information, please contact
