America's Aging
The elderly population has grown substantially in this century and will continue to rise well into the next century. According to the Census
Bureau's "middle series" projections, the elderly population will more than double between now and the year 2050, to 80 million. By that year, as many
as 1 in 5 Americans will be elderly. Elderly women outnumber elderly men. Consequently, while most elderly men
are married, most elderly women are not. California has the largest number of elderly, but Florida has the highest
percentage.
Worker's Compensation
Nationwide, back injuries constitute 20% to 30% of all worker's compensation claims within the professional trade. Needless to say,
effective devices and good techniques are important for the prevention of injury to both professionals and non-professionals alike.
